The maths that actually matters

Notion is priced per member, so team size is the multiplier: 10 members on Plus billed yearly is $100/month — $1,200/year; the same team billed monthly pays $120/month, $1,440/year. Business doubles it: $200/month yearly-billed, $240 monthly-billed. Guests cost nothing and are not members — a workspace with 5 members and 30 guests pays for 5. Run your own team size through the kit’s cost calculator, which shows the yearly-billed and monthly-billed totals side by side.

When the price is the reason to leave

Per-member pricing stings when your workspace is wide but shallow — many members who mostly read and jot. Local-first tools flip the maths: Obsidian’s app is free and its cost (optional Sync, $5/month) is per person who needs sync, not per member of a workspace; Anytype and AppFlowy can run free or self-hosted. But price is only half the story — read should you stay on Notion? before the bill decides for you.

Questions people ask

Is Notion free for a team?

Only up to a point: the Free plan’s unlimited blocks apply to a single person. Once a second member joins, the workspace is capped at 1,000 blocks, uploads are 5 MB, and page history is 7 days. Real teams land on Plus quickly.

Do guests cost money in Notion?

No — guests are free and do not count as paid members (checked 3 November 2026). Only members are billed, which is why the member/guest split matters when you count your team.

Is Notion AI included?

A limited AI trial is included on Free; full Notion AI is included on Business ($20/member/month billed yearly). On Plus, check the official pricing page for the current AI add-on terms — they change.
